Tonight, the Burra celebrated the end of season 2024/25 with an amazing afternoon of lawn bowls and awards at our annual presentation afternoon! 🏆

Congratulations to all our award winners across the Junior Blasts program and all our senior cricket teams! It was indeed special to soak in the sunshine and spend time with the Burra family before the off-season break!

Last night, a few members of the Burra represented Burwood District at the BHRDCA Presentation night for 2024/25! A huge congratulations to our 2nd XI for their premiership win, and Jake Evans, Sam Dhabi and Krishnan Venkatachalam for taking home individual accolades in their respective grades! 🏏

BDCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Final player of the week for the season goes to @patsowersby for his match winning knock in the 2nd XIs E-grade grandfinal against St Davids CC. A 105* (133) included seven 4s, seven 6s with a massive six to bring up his century. The innings tilted the final in favour of the Burras and took a massive chunk of runs off the 276 the team were chasing.

FAREWELL, PARAG

This week we say farwell to one of the best blokes at Hartwell, @@parag_jagtap_ as he bids adieu to us with his move back home to India. A true burra in spirit, always smiling, always helpful, always at training, always there for the green and gold. He will be missed at Hartwell from next season. Led flag winning seasons in the last two years, leaves big shoes to fill as a Burra Captain!

Following his outstanding 105* in yesterday's Grand Final, @patsowersby has surpassed 7000 career runs for Burwood District. Having started the season with 6442, Patty finished season 24/25 with another 598 runs for the club.

Pat now moves to 2nd in leading all time run scorers for the Burra, behind life member Terry Howard, who finished his playing career with 8407 runs.

Congratulations to our mighty 2's for winning the BHRDCA E Grade Grand Final! Our star batsmen @patsowersby was an absolute beast finishing with 105*, and well supported by Abhishek Dalvi with 59*.

That takes the Burra to #66 premiership flags! 🏆 Go the Burra! 🏏

GRANDFINAL DAY 2

A beautiful day of cricket awaits us our Burra 2nd XIs resume their grandfinal in the BHRDCA's E-grade against St. Davids CC with us batting to score another 269 runs in our first innings. A gutsy bowling effort by the Burra boys in the 37 degrees heat last week. A week of rain and cool weather has brought freshness into the boys who are raring to go for it. If you can, then come down to support the Burras.

The Burra 2’s are raring to go and win our 66th flag this weekend against @stdavidscc at Donvale Reserve in the E Grade Grand Final. Game starts at 1 pm tomorrow, Saturday 15 March and if weather permits, day 2 will be on Sunday, 16 March. Information, score updates and highlights will be regularly posted here. But if you can, please make it to the games in a Burra top and show the saints players a sea of green at their home ground!

BDCC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Congratulations to Captain @parag_jagtap_ for a classy innings taking the 2s to a massive 260 in their semifinal from 105/5 when he walked in to bat.

Hadley (@hadleydonut46 ) has been named as the Burra's player of the game for the 3rds semifinal. An all-round performance from Hads had the team getting very close to making the grand final.

Great weekend for the Burra!

Though a heartbreaking loss for the 3rds against Deakin CC in their F grade semifinal game ends their campaign, it was a season to remember and with an end like that, the team is raring to go again come October!

The 2s juggernaut rolls on to the GRAND FINAL! - Clinical performance from the team to win all round against Blackburn North CC. A solid team effort sees the team playing for Burra's 66th flag against St. Davids next weekend. Details to follow during the week.

Our 3rd XI season comes to a devastating end following a nail-biting loss in their Semi Final clash against @deakincricketclub. A battle for the ages with the Burra fighting till the end, falling 5 runs short chasing 130!

A great season nevertheless led magnificently by captain @jcevans23 and Vice Captain @onamalai 🌟

BDCC WEEKEND RESULTS | WEEK 20

Great wins by our 2nds and 3rds before their semifinals. The 2s on the back of a @patsowersby 100 have secured a home final at Hartwell. The 3rds will be playing an away semifinal after winning their last regular season game against Notting Hill BP CC. An all round performance from the team heading into semifinals to win by 42 runs.

The 1s finished their campaign for 24/25 with a good performance with both bat and ball 💛💚

Earlier this month, we celebrated the life of our one and only Ian Scholefield. It was a great evening connecting with Past and Current players, members of the Scholefield family and simply those who just had nothing but love for Schoey ❤️

Stories were shared, tears flowed, but most importantly - it was a touching farewell, amongst the green turf of Schoey's 2nd home - Hartwell Sportsground 🏏

BDCC WEEKEND RESULTS | WEEK 19

A crucial win for the 3rds in a close game against Doncaster CC assures the team a place in semi-final of their grade. The 2s at one point of their game were looking at chasing a much higher score than the 233 they will be going for next week, with the bowlers making a great comeback in the last 20 overs of their bowling innings.

The 1s season are trailing in their last game of the season on first innings score against Mulgrave Wheelers Hill CC. 💛💚

Great resilience was shown by our 1s in their loss against Deakin CC, to bat more than 90 overs. The 2s too had a narrow loss by 1 wicket against Blackburn North CC. While the 3rds won a crucial game against Monash CC to remain in contention to make it to the finals.

The Burra team put up a brave fight in the T20 grand final but fell short against a great all-round display by the @boxhillcricketclub

It was a great season with some fantastic wins, great shots and rocket balls from the boys. The season has fuelled a fire 🔥 within the team to go again and win it next year.

The T20 Green team led by @dhanurbhardwaj are playing the grand final tomorrow against @boxhillcricketclub at Heatherdale Reserve from 5.15 pm. Quality side on the field representing the Burra!

BDCC WEEKEND RESULTS | WEEK 17

Burra 1s need a strong showing with the bat next Saturday to overcome the 330 set by Deakin 1s in the first innings. It was a tough loss for our 3rds at home on Saturday against Deakin 3rds in a well-competed game. The 2s juggernaut keeps rolling with a good day 1 against Blackburn North CC led by a classy fifty by @dhanurbhardwaj, who also picked up a wicket for the Burra's before the close of play.

On Sunday, our Vets season came to an end after their semifinal loss to the Deakin team. This team has been a consistent Burra side for a few years now and will regroup to go for the flag next season!

Veterans team ready for action in the Semi Final! 🏏 ☀️

Tonight we celebrated and paid tribute to Ian "Schoey" Scholefield, who unfortunately passed away late last year. As an absolute legend of this club - he gave everything to the Burra, and it was only fitting to share some great memories of him at the home of BDCC - Hartwell Sportsground.

Thanks to all the family, friends and members of Burra who joined us today as we said good bye a final time to our very own Schoey 💚 You will be always missed.

Big weekend at the Burra!

Saturday teams with the 1s and the 3rds at home against @deakincricketclub while the top-of-the-table 2s are away at Koonung Reserve against @blackburnnorthcc.

On Sunday, our Vets XI play their semifinal against, guess what, Deakin CC :) The game starts at 1 pm, Bennettswood Reserve. We hope we can get as many Burras there to support the lads.

Weekend Result and Highlights | January 25

Our 1s came up against a very strong @yarraleencc to lose by 8 wickets. While the 3rds playing in the adjacent oval won their game by 6 wickets to keep themselves in contention to play finals cricket.

BDCC 2nds and Vets XI confirmed their semifinal spots with the 2s winning against @wyclifcc while the Vets had a forfeit against them by Mooralbark CC.

Vets semifinal to be played next Sunday for which details will be posted during the week.

WEEK 16 BDCC TEAMS

Burra 1s and 3rds play at Bulleen Park against @yarraleencc while the 2nds are at home against @wyclifcc in their round 9 game. All games are one-dayers this weekend.

The VETS have got a win due to a forfeit by the opponent - Mooralbark CC.

T20 SEMIFINAL | PLAYERS OF THE MATCH

Stuck in a tricky situation, with the game on the line, Pratik and Yash - our very own Bash Brothers- got into the boundaries mode and got us home.

The T20 Green has made it to the grand final to be played on the 11th of Feb.

Tuesday T20 Result - Semifinal

In the T20 semifinal, the Green team rose to the occasion, excelling with both bat and ball to secure a well-earned victory over @deakincricketclub The bowlers set the stage with a brilliant performance, limiting Deakin to just 130 runs. Despite early setbacks, the Burras showed resilience, with every batter stepping up to chase the target and power the team into the Grand Final. A true display of determination and teamwork!

Weekend Result and Highlights | January 25

Great effort with the bat by @mark_savyell & @shivasko led the 1st XI to a strong 199 at the end of their 40 overs. However, @templestowe_cc batters played well to chase the total with 3 wickets down.
